A productive weekend

Image
The task for this weekend was to strip the wallpaper from my bathroom prior to the plumber's arrival tomorrow morning. I overdid it somewhat, but hopefully it was all worth the effort and I can now relax and get an early night. Setting targets in my home life seems to work as well as it does in business!

Thank heavens for grown-up films

It's so good to see Spotlight winning original screenplay in last night's Baftas. A proper film for grown-ups that explores serious issues. Journalism at its best and screenwriting at its finest. Award winners are so frequently the blockbusters, rather than the films that make you think. Escapism has its place, but it's no surprise that Ex Machina lost out on special visual effects to the latest Star Wars. Subtlety definitely isn't one of the criteria.

Ash Wednesday - giving up and doing good

Giving up chocolate (even Fair Trade) for Lent and donating the money I would have spent to the Red Cross. While there are people around the world who barely have enough to eat, it's the least I can do.

Taking pride

The day when your son is acknowledged as a drummer with potential. Glad it's not just me.

Today, I was trained in how to write better. Or, at least, more in the voice a particular customer expects. A few nuggets were shared and you're never too old to learn something new.
