Ten questions for trombonist Tom Green

Image
I had great fun interviewing up and coming jazz trombonist Tom Green.     Read the result on Kind of Jazz.

Partnerships - Gandy's and @BambuuBrush

Image
Working in partnership seems natural for @BambuuBrush and they're working closely with the team at Gandy's , who use the strapline 'Don't just exist'.     I created a web page for @BambuuBrush.

Good news - something to look forward to

Who knows where we will be in June, but I've just received notification of this album launch. Some of the finest young musicians around under band leader Misha Mullov Abbado .     This is just what I need to help me get through the coming weeks.

First day of lockdown

Image
The situation with Coronavirus is moving so fast, but - at 8:30 last night - we finally reached lockdown. Now we're only allowed out for essential groceries, medical appointments and one piece of exercise a day.     These are worrying times, but I'm so fortunate in having some work which has carried on. Sadly, one client decide to terminate our contract very early in the process. It seemed like a knee-jerk reaction, and it was a great shock, but I'll have to respect their decision and carry on with everything else.     On a brighter note, the sun has been shining and it's actually quite nice weather. Dog-walking this morning was a pleasure and we met (at a safe distance) lots of people who were similarly occupied.     Everything else has moved online, so I'm managing classes of boys and writing various articles for other clients. Who knows where we will be in a few days.     The radio station has had to close the studio, so no more recording...

Laila Biali - 'Out of Dust'

A stunning album from the Canadian Biali.     Read my review for Kind of Jazz here.

The marvellous Marco Marconi

I was blessed to interview pianist Marco Marconi on my classical music radio programme, Rubato this afternoon.     It really was a complete pleasure and you can listen again by clicking here .

One of my favourite views - inside North Herts Radio

Image
Once a week - sometimes more often - this is my view for an hour or so. It's only 10 months since I started presenting Rubato , a classical music show.     Now I go live on air every Sunday at 3pm, presenting my own selection of classical music tracks and talking to listeners. And yes, people do actually listen, either live or on Listen Again.     2020 is promising to be an exciting year, with a great balance of writing, teaching, broadcasting and (coming soon) podcasting.     Never stop learning new skills.
