Catalyst Quartet and their Uncovered project

Image
The American Catalyst Quartet features string players of a supremely high calibre. Their latest album features the music of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. I chatted with Paul Laraia about how the album came about.

Interview with the legendary Ernie Watts

Image
The latest episode of my Harmonious World podcast features a fairly lengthy interview with the great saxist Ernie Watts .     It was an honour to interview Ernie and there are a few clips of some of his latest work included on the episode. If you have a chance to listen to him live, please do. It's on my bucket list of gigs for 2021/22.

Hailey Brinnel - one to watch

Image
I'm joined for this episode of Harmonious World by Hailey Brinnel, trombonist and singer.     I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles  is Hailey's joyous album with touches of New Orleans jazz and a lot of fun. In fact, our interview has a lot of laughter - the editing process removed some, but I left a little in so you can see how much fun we had, talking about the album, music and lockdown.     Many thanks for Hailey for allowing me to feature clips from her album alongside our conversation.     To find out more about Hailey,  click here .     I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles is set for its official launch on 10 April at Chris's Jazz Cafe in Philadelphia.
