Back with episode 101

After an unintentional hiatus, Harmonious World is back with saxist  Viktor Haraszti .     Viktor has just released his first album - Equanimity - and it's well worth a listen. I hope you enjoy our conversation as well.     Thanks to Viktor for allowing me to use clips from the album alongside our conversation.

International Women's Day 2022 - some thoughts

My podcast - Harmonious World - wouldn't be where it is today without some extraordinary women.     Firstly, there's Amanda at Crossover Media in the States. We may be thousands of miles apart (and have never met), but Amanda and her colleagues have really helped me establish and develop Harmonious World. It really wouldn't be here at all if not for some email conversations two years ago that gave me the confidence to start.     We're now 100 episodes in!     Then there's the huge list of inspirational women I've been able to interview, from all around the world: Laila Biali, Anne Sofie von Otter, Inbal Segev, Sharon Isbin, Maria Schneider, Elyse Anne Kakacek, Sarah McKenzie, Robin Spielberg, Jenni Slotchiver, Luna Pearl Woolf, Jane Ira Bloom, Hilary Hahn, Hailey Brinnel, Lisa Reagan, Hattie Snooks, Lara Solnicki, Lynn Tredeau, Jo Harrop, Jane Roman Pitt, Marion Lenfant-Preus, Dr Christina Tan, Patricia Barber, Carmela Rappazzo, Lisa Swerdlow, Hidek...

'More Than Ever' from Marco Tranchina

It's only March and I've already found one of my favourite albums of 2022. Welcome to 'More Than Ever' from Marco Tranchina.     You can read my review on KindofJazz.com

Harmonious World - recorded live!

It is with great pleasure that I present this, the 100th episode of Harmonious World . I joined composer, conductor and educator  Malcolm Singer  in his studio to interview him in real life. I'm so grateful to Malcolm for giving me that opportunity and to our mutual friend Michael Shapiro for effecting the introduction. Malcolm and I sat in his studio chatting and listening to some of his music and I hope you enjoy listening to his insights. Thanks to Malcolm for allowing me to use clips from the album alongside our conversation and for sharing a selfie or two (which you can see on my social media feed).

Craig Urquhart joins me from Berlin

Pianist  Craig Urquhart  joined me virtually for the latest episode of Harmonious World . His composition Lamentation for flute and strings began episode 91, when I interviewed Garrett Keast.     This time, Craig and I discuss his latest album of solo piano works -  Dreams Remembered .

'Gone Beyond'

My conversation for this episode of Harmonious World is with singer songwriter  Donna De Lory .     Donna's latest solo album -  Gone Beyond   - is described as a meditative masterpiece and it was very interesting to discuss it with her.     Thanks to Donna for allowing me to use clips from the album alongside our conversation.

'On The Town'

This Valentine's Day features a very special conversation with pianist  Pete Malinverni .     On The Town - Pete Malinverni Plays Leonard Bernstein  is a wonderful album, featuring a stunning jazz trio and some of the world's most beautiful tunes. We discuss the making of the album, when Pete met Leonard and all things pandemic and music. It's a long episode, but for a very good reason, and I hope you enjoy listening to this fascinating conversation.     Thanks to Pete for allowing me to use clips from the album alongside our conversation.
