Celebrating 2024
This year has been an incredible one for my writing and podcasting and, although a couple of other projects have necessarily had to take a back seat, it's been overwhelmingly positive.
My first live podcast episode in front of an audience with guitarist Rob Luft came in a close sixth. And the video of that episode is the highest performing video on my YouTube channel.
My business writing career also continued well, with some fabulous existing and new clients in 2024. It's always difficult to share that work, but they know what I do! It's mainly articles to share online and with employees, but some social media and external communications, too.
All in all, a great year to look back on, while focusing on plans for 2025. Wishing you all the very best in your own endeavours.

Harmonious World grew by 26% in 2024 and was elevated to the top 10% of UK podcasts. I uploaded 50 episodes including interviews with some extraordinary musical talent. The top five episodes of this year are:
- #228 - Live chat with campers and tutors on the Great British Music Camp. The video of that episode is also the second most popular video on my YouTube channel
- #210 - In conversation with the inspirational Darius Brubeck
- #200 - Dan Jennings from the 'Desperately Seeking Paul' podcast
- #213 - Live conversation with pianist and Snarky Puppy co-founder Bill Laurance
- #190 - A live chat with singer Lucy-Anne Daniels

What I particularly like about that list is the inclusion of established giants and new talent, as well as Dan, a fellow podcaster, spreading the word about music.
I have also been fortunate enough to be invited a number of times in to recording studios (the control rooms, at least!) for some amazing sessions. There's nothing quite like turning up to the door of Abbey Road, even as an observer.
In other news, I joined the Jazz Journalists Association, which allows me to network with other writers around the world about the music that we love. This partly came about as a result of a conversation with Fiona Ross from the Women in Jazz Media organisation, and I was lucky enough to be featured in their December 2024 edition.

The first public reading of my fiction took place just before Christmas and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing that side of my writing. Look out for more such events - I model my delivery on what I have read about two of my heroes reading their work. You can't get much better literary role models than Charles Dickens and Oscar Wilde. We can but try!
