Love Supreme 2025 - you might want to get your tickets now!

You are going to want to book your tickets for the Love Supreme Festival 2025 (4-6 July) because there are some incredible acts now confirmed to appear.

A brilliant list of artists will be appearing in Europe's largest greenfield jazz festival. You can read some of my musings from the 2024 festival here, here and here, but trust me - wandering around between the tents and the delicious food outlets and hearing a huge range of jazz, funk and soul acts really could be where your summer 2025 peaks.

The good thing about Love Supreme tickets is that the price is best when you buy it early and there are so many great artists announced already - with more to come - that there is bound to be a couple you really don't want to miss this summer.

A couple of weeks ago, soul star Maxwell was announced, for the headliner slot on Sunday evening and now Motown legend Smokey Robinson is confirmed for his first UK show in 15 years.

As well as Lakecia Benjamin, the rising star sax player pictured above, there's Branford Marsalis and Stanley Clarke who are all top of my list for July. Add En Vogue and WAR to that list and I'm definitely sorted.

New to me is the ethereal Grammy-winning Pakistani-American singer Arooj Aftab, so that's another act I'll be checking out, as well as Chicago singer and poet Jamila Woods. Who is top of your list?

Big Wade and Black Swan Theory collectively blends funk, soul, jazz and everything that fills the cracks between those genres: his new album -  Piano Man - on all major streaming platforms ahead of the Piano Man Tour 2024 , which has dates across the US. Playtime: 'Morse Code Through The Lights'

Every once in a while, an album drops into your inbox and isn't going anywhere. Morse Code Through The Lights is just such an album. Incontrovertibly controversial, this won't be everyone's cup of tea, but this one has absolutely, instantly, made it onto my list of top albums of 2024. Drummer Tom Bancroft and his band Playtime, which began in Edinburgh as Adventures in New Music ten years ago as a weekly session, have produced something delightfully experimental and brilliantly creative. Four of Scotland's most-established jazz musicians - Martin Kershaw (sax), Graeme Stephen (guitar), Mario Caribe (bass) and Tom Bancroft (drums) - tried out new music and new ideas together.
