It has just been announced that Rhythms of the World - cancelled earlier because of the loss of a venue - will be holding a fun day in teh Market Square on Saturday 14 July 2013.
Most of Hitchin has called for a return to the old days of the festival in the heart of the town, but it had become unwieldy and a victim of its success. Too many people streaming into the town centre and too much noise and disruption.
It will be interesting to see what actually happens in the Fun Day, but it appears that there is a desire to keep it small and family-oriented. Bands, certainly, but not a return to the past extravaganza.
